No stranger to holiday music, having recorded numerous Christmas albums with the Pips, veteran R&B singer Gladys Knight presents a warm, welcoming set of Yuletide songs on 2006's A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION. A showcase for the choir Saints Unified Voices (an ensemble assembled and directed by Knight), A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION finds the group backed by light, Quiet Storm-style arrangements on serene versions of both secular and religious classics--including "White Christmas" and "Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful"-- that feature a variety of lead vocalists, including Knight and her daughter, Kenya Jackson. The legendary R&B vocalist also produced and arranged the album.
