The group's debut record 6 LBS. OF SOUND features blush-inducing songs such as the metallic "Balls," "Hand Job" and "F*ck Your Face" which are only slightly more clever than the titles would suggest ("Balls" primarily features the band screaming the word "balls" over death metal style-double kick drum and machine gun guitar riffing). Occasionally, however, Ellis and crew dip into more convincing parody, such as the folk-prog ditty "Sir Eagle C*ck III" which sounds like Jethro Tull as interpreted by Bevis and Butthead. Juvenile enough to make Spinal Tap's "Big Bottoms" sound like Oscar Wilde in comparison, 6 LBS. OF SOUND will appeal to those who like their comedy accompanied by a heaping helping of the absurd. I got a chance to get Taintsticks debut album before it hit shelves. These guys
bring a new and fresh perspective to the metal scene. "Load" is my personal
favorite, which is actually one of their more mellow tunes, but it really hits
close to home for me.
Check out this album when it comes out. You will NOT
regret it.
