Tammi Terrell was a gifted soul singer in the Dinah Washington mold tragically best remembered for her death from a brain tumor at the age of 24. Although she had only middling success as a solo singer, her biggest hit being 1966's "I Can't Believe You Love Me," a two-year string of duets with labelmate Marvin Gaye resulted in classics like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Your Precious Love," and "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing." After collapsing in Gaye's arms at an October 1967 concert, Terrell was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and died March 16, 1970.
