It would be difficult to truly catch the best blues tracks on a single 45-minute disc, even if it is the second volume, but this somewhat random set does feature truly classic cuts, including Bo Diddley doing a ragged version of "I'm a Man," J.B. Lenoir's subtle (for the blues, anyway) "Mama Talk to Your Daughter," Muddy Waters' definitive Chess Records version of "Got My Mojo Working," Sonny Boy Williamson's atmospheric "Help Me," and Howlin' Wolf's garage take on "Back Door Man." The liner notes are minimal and fairly general, and there really isn't much to distinguish this collection from the hundreds of similar ones out there, but the sides listed above are all worth hearing. ~ Steve Leggett
