In anticipation of its second Sub Pop record, DESCENDED LIKE VULTURES, the San Francisco quartet Rogue Wave released the 10:1 EP. While the title single is more driving and dense than the group's usually breezy indie-rock sound, the three non-album tracks tread closer to the band's debut, OUT OF THE SHADOW. "Interruptions" features frontman Zach Rogue's high, lilting vocals and minimal acoustic-guitar work over steady percussion, while "Wait for It" is a solo lo-fi living-room recording. The EP's closer, "Crush the Camera," splits the difference between the two previous songs as a fairly spare tune with full-group participation. A classic example of a transitional release, the 10:1 EP perfectly bridges the gap between Rogue Wave's first two albums.
